A Powerful, Grateful Community

 

practice gratitude, julie boyer, daily gratitude, gratitude projectThis morning I was listening to a TED Talk with Brother David Steindl-Rast about how it is the grateful people that are happy. I’ve listened to this talk many times before and today I heard something I hadn’t really heard before. He spoke about a grateful community he had been a part of creating where you can light a candle of gratitude (virtual). I finally did a Google search for it, and came across the most wonderful community of gratitude, Gratefulness.Org.

Gratitude Tip: The reason why we listen or read personal developments books, audios and videos over and over is that we learn something new every time we do. What’s amazing is that you can listen to the same thing time and time again (as I do with The Strangest Secret by Earl Nightingale) and all of a sudden hear something you’ve never really HEARD before. We are constantly changing and evolving and as we do, what catches our attention changes.

I am very excited to have ‘discovered’ this community and I plan on becoming a contributor, I’m not sure what that will look like yet but I feel very drawn to be a part of it. I encourage all of you to take a look around and light a candle when you choose to have a quiet moment of reflection today. It’s free, but like most not-for-profit organizations, donations are welcome. There are also many wonderful suggestions for different gratitude practices

What are you currently listening, watching or reading? Is it feeding your mind and adding value? Or does it build feelings of fear, doubt and frustration? Be protective of what goes into your mind. Tip the scales towards feeding it with positive and encouraging things, as opposed to negative. In my book, 30 Days of Gratitude, I talk about taking a daily inventory of your conscious thoughts and keeping track of when you have a positive thought or a negative one by simply putting a check mark on a note pad. At the end of the day, you’ll have a better idea of how you are balancing the scales, or if you’re tipped in the direction of positivity or negativity.
