Here we are – halfway through the 28 Day Total Body Detox. I ran into a challenge this afternoon. I was really looking to relax and chill out this aft, but I just couldn’t seem to relax – and what was going through my mind was that either a) I would love a glass of red wine or b) How about a bag of Eggies? Now, I don’t have either in my house, so those options weren’t available. I found it interesting that I immediately thought of food and wine to relax. My husband chided me and said that I don’t really know how to relax. And maybe on some level he’s right. After training and completing 3 Ironman Triathlons, exercise was often my go-to for relaxation and stress release.  Due to an injury that has kept me sidelined for a while, that’s not the case.  Although a nice walk outside might have done the trick. That seems to help when I do it during the week.  I’d love to hear from you – what’s your best way to relax and unwind that doesn’t involve alcohol or chocolate?

So here are my famous kale chips from last night! They were super yummy. If you saw my recipe back in Day 3 – note that I made the same recipe but with half the bunch of kale and it was better.

Tonight I enjoyed some bbq salmon, with my quinoa salad, on a bed of argula, added avocado and balsamic dressing. Very tasty. I finished my meal with some pineapple – I guess it’s pineapple season in Costa Rica because they are everywhere! And there are many great health benefits to eating pineapple: Bromelain, a proteolytic enzyme, is the key to pineapple’s value. Proteolytic means “breaks down protein”, which is why pineapple is known to be a digestive aid. It helps the body digest proteins more efficiently. Bromelain is also considered an effective anti-inflammatory. Source

I have seen some pretty amazing transformations in some of my clients so far – two who have completely cut out coffee – from drinking almost a pot a day! A few who have already decided that this will be a way of life for them – and although I am still waiting for the outcome of the full 28 days, I know that I have already made some permanent changes.
