At this point, I won’t catch up from the missed day, so I’ll summarize both Day 16 and 17 of the 30 Day Whole Body Detox in this post. What I have found so far is that for most people, it takes about 3 days to feel good. There are usually some withdrawal symptoms, such as headaches, tiredness, muscle soreness and mental fog. By day four, most people are already starting to feel really great. And it just gets easier and easier as the days go by. I am finding it easier to pass up a drink or a sugary treat. In fact, I have yet to make any of the chocolate or cacao recipes in the detox guidebook yet which means I have not had any chocolate in 17 days. This is probably a lifetime record for me!
I have a personal goal of making every single one of the recipes in the book in 30 days. I tried a few different ones this week, including the Fennel Citrus Salad from Gorete. This is listed in our side dishes but I chose to try it as my main meal for lunch. It was great, except that I made a mistake with the olive oil and balsamic vinegar measurements so I ended up with a lot of dressing. I wasn’t really sure how it would all come together but I did enjoy the combination of flavours.
My husband has been helping out with some of the cooking; he prepared all of the veggies for the Ginger Peanut Stir-Fry and marinated the tofu as well. We didn’t eat til a bit later last night so the tofu marinated longer, and I think that made the flavours even more amazing. For Good Friday breakfast, we all had the Nutrimeal™Free pancakes for breakfast and another one of my huge lunch salads. I don’t think I’ll be giving up that habit soon. One of the things I noticed is that there are many dinner recipes with brown rice, so it seemed like we were eating it all of the time. I made a Buddha Bowl again tonight, but substituted for quinoa and it was so delicious. It’s easy to make simple changes like these to keep the variety in the program.
I am super excited to work with the next group starting on Tuesday Apri l 22nd. Don’t forget to join us on Facebook for more recipes, success stories and to get your questions answered.
