Last night, when I went to post this update for Day 4 of the 30 Day Whole Body Detox, my database was EMPTY. No pages or posts! Thank goodness for the amazing team at HostGator who restored my database within a few hours. Turns out my database was corrupted and crashed. Glad to be back!

12 weeks of empties

12 weeks of empties

One of the things that can be a challenge during the detox is giving up alcohol for 30 days. I do enjoy a bottle of wine over a weekend and ciders when the weather is nice. So it’s always a bit of a challenge to give it up, but I figure if I can give my liver a break for one month of the year, it certainly helps. I returned our empties today, we had been collecting them since the holidays so there were a lot. It really puts into perspective how much we do (or don’t drink).

Having a fridge full of delicious and healthy food is a benefit to the program. I always forget that often many of the recipes make several portions so that I end up with lots of leftovers. I would caution you to purchase only what you need for the first 3 days on your first trip to the grocery store when planning for the detox. If not, you may end up with some of the fresh fruits and vegetables spoiling.

Today I enjoyed the Orange-Ginger Detox Smoothie again for breakfast. My daughter helped me make the No Bake Protein bars, which she loves. A few friends have suggested replacing the almond butter with sun butter so that they can be taken to school as snacks. Lunch was leftover tacos, in a sundried-tomato wrap. For afternoon snack, I enjoyed a pear with almond butter, it was so delicious! I find that during the detox I rediscover some of my favorite snacks and other foods I had forgotten about.

I made the famous Buddha Bowl recipe, from our friends at Lettuce Love Café. Since I had some avocado salsa leftover from last night’s dinner, I used that instead of sliced avocado. It was amazing.

Many of you are starting your detox on Monday. Make sure you read the pre-detox preparation post and review your guidebook before you start. Take a photo of your groceries and share with us on Facebook. Cherlynn Moore, our graphic designer, has shared her detox story with us on her blog. Let’s do this together!
