The title of this blog post is an homage to Robert Holden, author of Shift Happens. Holden was one the 9 amazing Hay House authors I had the opportunity to listen this weekend at the Toronto I Can Do It! event. I signed up for this event back in March the day I saw the posting on Facebook and bought the premier seating.  Even though our seats were not assigned, I was still able to enjoy the event from the 2nd row. Over the next few posts, I’d like to share with you some of the thoughts and learnings that I found most inspiring.  Please note that I may not agree or believe in everything the authors shared, as you may not as well, but I felt that it was important (to me) to be open to listening to all of them.

Dr. Wayne Dyer is one of my favorite authors – his book Excuses Begone! had a very positive impact on my life this past October. I’ve also watched his recent film, The Shift, several times. I’ve also been listening to his latest book, Wishes Fulfilled and trying to get a deeper understanding of the material he shares. His 3 hour keynote covered many of the topics from the book. I was thrilled to not only to be in the second row but also to be sitting right behind two of his daughters and his brother, all of whom spoke briefly as well.

What impacted me the most from his three hour keynote were 2 things:

  • The concept of I am and how we are not separate from God
  • The potential influence that I can have (that we can all have) on our children’s spiritual lives right now

The I am concept is explained in Wishes Fulfilled, although it didn’t really make sense to me until I heard him speak.  He puts it in a simple way – if you cut a slice of apple pie and put it on a plate, you still know that it is apple pie – why? – because it came from the whole pie.  Simply put, we are a part of God (we have God within us, in our souls) because we all came from God (replace God with Source or Life if that works for you). I find this a very comforting thought – we are never alone 🙂

Dr. Dyer has written several children’s books, as have a few of the other authors including Louise Hay and Doreen Virtue. I love that I have the opportunity to teach my daughter now how to create her life, how to build her faith, how to build self-esteem.  What a gift it is to be able to share what I’ve been learning with my young daughter.

Recommended summer reading:

  • Change Your Thoughts, Change Your Life
  • Excuses Begone
  • Wishes Fulfilled
  • And any one of his children’s books if you have kids or grand-kids.

Let me know if you’re planning on checking in for the next few posts about the weekend!
