We have an express in French, ‘Un mal pour un bien,’ which basically means something bad for something good. It’s a simple philosophy that often applies in our lives and we are most able to see it when we look back in hindsight. This morning I received this Note from the Universe in my inbox:
How is it Julie, that with so many brilliant beings on your planet, so few recognize that when one’s life encounters turbulence, choppy waters, or setbacks, it’s always a sign that things are about to get wildly better than they’ve ever been before?
I love it when messages show up at exactly the right time – one might say it’s Divine Timing. The past week has brought some fairly difficult business challenges for myself and some of my team members. I have been focusing on working through these challenges while remaining in gratitude that they have been put in front of me. That might seem strange to some people, however what I’ve found is that it is during the challenging times that we grow the most. It’s up to us to decide whether we shrivel up and die (metaphorically), or grow stronger than ever before.
What I’ve notice in my life and in business is that when people leave, it creates space for others to rise up or come into the light. Maybe they had been there all along, but were somehow eclipsed by a bigger personality. Or perhaps once a void had been left, they found a way to shine their own light even more brightly and more powerfully.
There is a time and a place to grieve for a loss, whether it is a loss of a friendship or business partner and these feelings have to be addressed and dealt with. What I have found is that the more quickly we can feel these emotions and move forward, the more rapidly things shift towards something even better. It’s not always easy to do this, and this is where our solid foundation of gratitude helps us to keep going. I am grateful for all of it – all of the setbacks and challenges that I’ve faced in business and in life – and I wouldn’t want to change anything about my past experiences. By continuing to focus on the present and what I’m most grateful for, right now, it’s easier to face challenges that come along.
When we ask for a raise, a promotion or an increase in business revenue, this often coincides with major challenges. Why is that, you might ask? Jim Rohn might say, ‘I wouldn’t sign up for that class,’ meaning that it’s not our role to focus on WHY things are happening or WHY things are changing. What I have realized in my own life and my own business is that in order to achieve a higher goal or income level, growth is required. Therefore challenges will appear, in Divine Timing of course. I have come to a point in my life where I am open to facing difficulties and challenges as I know that they are essential for growth. The bigger the dream, the bigger the challenges!
If it were easy to be successful, everyone on the planet would have already reached their own personal version of success. What most people don’t realize is that success comes from facing challenges, making mistakes and learning and growing from them. Often we are afraid to make mistakes, hide from challenges or are afraid to step out of our comfort zone. This is the key to success however, facing the uncomfortable and humbling experiences that arise from these difficult situations.
Gratitude makes it easier to face these challenges, once we realize that they are there to help us growth. Many successful people will tell you that they are grateful for their challenges – maybe not at the time when they were knee deep in difficulties, but certainly in hindsight. Where in your life are you facing challenges right now? Would you be open to using gratitude to help you move forward?
I dream of a world where we all Wake Up With Gratitude™. That would change our world overnight. May your day be filled with love, joy and gratitude today.
