From the moment Elisa Graci, event host, took the stage yesterday morning, we were in for an amazing and very powerful day. We kicked off 2016 with an event that featured 7 different speakers, with 3 keynote sessions. Being a part of this tribe is such a powerful gift. And for the over 300 people who attended, once again, we all left having gained some wisdom, insight and skills to create massive success in 2016.
Gratitude Tip: It takes sacrifice to spend your entire Saturday at a live event. Many of us had to find people to care for our children, others travelled great distances to be there and some had to miss other important events to attend. Choosing to spend a day in a positive and uplifting environment is a wonderful gift and what’s even more powerful is that the people who attended yesterday, will share what they have learned with others and we will impact our world in so many positive ways. I have a tremendous amount of gratitude for all of our speakers, organizers and for all of the guests who joined us yesterday to make this event a huge success.
There are so many great nuggets of wisdom to share, that I’ll do my best to summary one thing from each speaker.
Pat Birnie lead off the morning with amazing energy and enthusiasm. At 60, she’s tried more new things in the last 5 years than most of us probably have in our entire lives. She and her husband, Ian, have created an amazing freedom lifestyle with their USANA business, their investment properties and Ian’s business as a mortgage broker. They travel upwards of 10 weeks per year and are always on the look out for new adventures. What I learned from Pat is that it doesn’t matter how old or young you are chronologically, creating a lifestyle that allows you to experience new things on a regular basis is what’s going to keep you young.
Lindsay Schwab was our next speaker, and she shared her own personal health journey and introduced us to why she chose to partner with USANA Health Sciences, not only for the highest quality products but for the opportunity to create more freedom in her life. What really caught my attention is that Lindsay came into this business without a background in health or nutrition, and in a few short years, has learned so much about nutrition and supplementation and shares it in a way that makes it exciting and easy to understand for everyone.
Our keynote speakers shared a bit of insight during the Lifestyle Panel in the morning session, lead by Elisa Graci who was a gracious and powerful event host. It was a little sneak peek on what the afternoon session would be all about.
The afternoon session was lead by Arabelle & Abby Ramboyong, a beautiful couple from L.A., speaking for the first time in Canada. What I learned most from Abby is that it doesn’t matter how many times you tried and failed, it’s only important that you try again until you do succeed. She had several ‘false starts’ in her USANA business, and over the past few years, while building with Arabelle, the two of them have created amazing success and seen many, many leaders advance on their teams. She is often asked about what was the turning point in her business. When she finally decided to take a good look at the ‘story’ she was telling herself about her lack of success, she took RESPONSIBILITY for her own success and made it happen.
Arabelle’s journey was a bit different, as she was introduced to USANA by Abby (it’s a great ‘meet cute‘). Arabelle started a customer who became a part of the team because she was referring customers to Abby. When she started, Arabelle was challenged by Abby to go for a business goal in her first 8 weeks in business – she had no idea how to do it but she said yes, told the world and figured it out (a.k.a as Eric Worre recommends) – and she accomplished it! My favorite quote from Arabelle, ‘There is no way I was BORN to pay bills and DIE!’
Christa Realba is one of my good friends and mentors in USANA. She has become a very powerful speaker and in the last year, her business more than doubled in revenue! She shared with us her most amazing strategy to create your best year ever in 2016. What I love about Christa is that she is so well grounded and is truly unshakable and unstoppable. It’s not possible for me to share all of the goodness with you in this post, so if you’d like to hear a different version of the program that she did at the beginning of January, please visit her website.
Highlights from Christa’s session include being totally aware of your emotions. Emotional intelligence is finally becoming mainstream and we’re all just starting to understand how important our emotions and energy are. Did you know that when you post on social media you’re sharing your ‘energy’ with the world? Be authentic in what you share, stay in alignment with who you are and you’ll find that more and more people will respond and connect. She spent quite a bit of time on inspired goal setting, leading off with this quote: ‘The major reason for setting a goal is for what it makes of you to accomplish it.’ She also spent some time on gratitude, my favorite topic of course! Christa reminded us that gratitude sets the tone for our lives and that the more we are grateful, the more we have to be grateful for.
The event closed with Michael Callajas, one of the most successful and most respected leaders in USANA. Michael is a very successful business owner who reached a personal goal of earning $1 million in commissions in his USANA business by his 30th birthday (it took 7 years from the time he enrolled). He is also very humble, kind, generous, funny and full of love and gratitude. He communicates his wisdom in such a way that really makes it possible to change your perspective. One of the key points he shared was that if you catch yourself saying ‘I know, I know’ when your coach or your mentor tells you something, stop and ask yourself this – you know, but do you really UNDERSTAND? I used to be an ‘I know, I know’ person. It wasn’t serving me so I let it go. Now I am hungry to learn and apply what I have learned as often as possible. As Michael put it, being coachable is doing it and asking WHY later. Michael is also writing a book called Your EGO is not your AMIGO – based on his own personal experiences :-). Much of what he shared with us will be included in this upcoming book.
We finished our day with a leadership dinner in Toronto at Via Vai (amazing food!). It gave us all a chance to connect and share our successes and challenges, as well as have fun and socialize!! There’s never enough time at the live events to really hang out together so this was a beautiful way to end the day. I am so incredibly grateful to be surrounded by an amazing tribe of women and men who are positive, successful, uplifting, generous, kind, open-hearted, friendly and the list goes on. Ask yourself this, who I am surrounded by? Do I feel uplifted or deflated when I leave their company? And do you want this to change? There’s always room for you in our tribe. And finally, a reminder that next Friday will be the first day of the #40Daysofgratitude challenge! Set your daily reminder and I’ll see you on Facebook and Intagram.
