Everything I have been reading lately leads back to the same conclusion, love is the answer to all conflict, strife, worry, anger and all other negativity in our world. The ability to love unconditionally – truly a love without conditions – is a skill that we can strive to improve every single day.
Gratitude Tip: Love and gratitude are beautifully intertwined. We can express our love for someone by showing them how grateful we are. Gratitude and love are emotions that vibrate on the highest frequency possible for human beings, and it’s difficult to express one without feeling the other in our hearts. When we are grateful for someone or something, our hearts are usually filled with love at the same time.
This quote from The Purpose-Driven Life by Pastor Rick Warren sums it all up:
‘The best use of life is love. The best expression of love is time. The best time to love is now.’
You may never get another chance to show or tell someone how much you love and appreciate them. A friend of mine posted on Facebook yesterday that she suddenly and unexpected lost one of her friends. It is essential that we act as if we are going to live forever, but love as though we were to be gone tomorrow. When I think about Dr. Wayne Dyer who passed away this summer, I still think of how much he loved everyone. His legacy of life and kindness remains. He left such a legacy that even though he is physically gone, it still feels like he is here. What if today was your last day here on earth? Would you leave behind a legacy of love? Or would people be wondering if you loved them at all?
Focus on love today. Listen to others with an open heart and without a personal agenda. Be open to what they have to share. If they are going through a difficult time, listen with empathy and kindness, and provide loving support. On the other hand, when you are faced with impatience, rudeness or frustration, take a deep breathe and instead of responding in kind, remember that they are a human being, just like you and silently offer them love and gratitude. Yes we can be grateful when someone is rude to us, as it is a reminder that we control how we react to other people’s words and emotions, it is always our choice to either love or become frustrated.
Today is truly a gift, hold this thought in your heart and mind today as you interact with others. Be your best self today. Show others how we can love one another, no matter what.
