Be present, in every moment is one of my core values that I am upholding during my Year of Gratitude Project. Yesterday, I was given the chance to do this and simply go with the flow, and if you know me, you know that I’m not a go with the flow kind of person.
We had many plans for our Sunday but little bit little they all fell through in the space of about an hour. I chose not to attend church as I wanted to stay with my family for the day (my husband supports my faith but do not attend church). We ended up at the pool, as a family for the afternoon. On a day where the temperature was way above 30C, it was the best place to be. And we had a great time. I had work to do, blogs to write, goals for the week to prepare, but I left it behind to just BE with my family. It was totally worth it!
My daughter and I also joined my husband for baseball tonight. She loves to go to his games but because she has an early bedtime, we usually don’t go and watch the full game. It was such a treat for her to get to stay the whole time and I know that in the grand scheme of things, going to bed late a few nights in the summer will not ruin our bedtime plan for September.
Gratitude tip: Take advantage of a change of plans to be present and make decisions that bring your family closer together. I am so grateful that I did!
So what was supposed to be a day filled with errands and projects around the house and with friends was changed to a day full of family fun!! And I am super grateful for that decision. How did you spend your weekend?
