It’s been over three weeks now since Dan and I decided to make some permanent lifestyle changes. Some of these changes meant going back to some of our better habits and others meant making new habits.  We have been using the scale and how our clothes fit, and how we are feeling, in order to gauge our progress.  This week, Dan is now down a total of 8 lb.  And even better – he is rarely snoring! What a pleasure for me.  He is more consistent with his exercise and has been making better choices when it comes to food and portions. Believe it or not, just eating out 2-3 times for lunch per week (half a sub) was affecting his waistline.  He has been bringing his lunch for 3 weeks now, and we’ve had double the benefit of weight loss and less cash spent on food.

As for me, the numbers on the scale still haven’t changed.  Let’s focus on what has changed – first I bought a new pair of jeans for the first time in years and they fit nicely in a size 6.  I am feeling much stronger, especially my upper body, and am now at 2 sets of 15 push-ups (my goal is 2 sets of 25).  I am making better food choices and cooking more often. We are also cooking and leaving leftovers, which is helpful as well. Also, there were several days this week when I didn’t have a diet coke.  I’ve been adding OHM to my shake in the morning, and the healthy energy boost is enough to keep me going.  I still crave the carbonation but no longer feel as though I need the caffeine.

I am proud of the progress that both Dan and I have made.  We are on the right track and that’s what is most important.  A healthy lifestyle is very important to us and we want to make sure we remain a good example of how to live a healthy life.

On a birthday note – Friday night was so much fun! We had a great group of people at Paradiso Restaurant in Burlington, same place Dan & I were married this summer. It was so much fun, we brought together family and friends from all different parts of our lives.

34th Birthday! 2010

Everyone got along well, made new friends, enjoyed great food and had fun! We came back here afterwards to enjoy my birthday present from Dan – Band Hero (from the makers of Guitar Hero).  It’s a great game and really fun with a group of people. All in all, it was the best birthday party I have had in years – maybe even in my whole adult life. I am grateful for all of the amazing people in my life.  Thank-you for your kindness and generosity everyone!

Coming up this week, in honour of Valentine’s on the 14th, I’ll be sharing the secret of how I attracted Dan into my life, using the Law of Attraction.

If you’ve got a great story about love to share, just let us know in the comments and I can include it in a future post.
