What is on your ‘should do’ list? What is it that you are doing every day that is no longer serving you? This is a great question that was asked by Kate Northrup on the live Money Love webinar last night. Kate is the author of Money, A Love Story: Untangle Your Financial Woes and Create the Life You Really Want. This is one of the questions in the webinar that resonated with me the most and I’ve been thinking about my own ‘should do’ list.
Since October of 2013 I have been sending out a daily message, first starting with my daily gratitude tips that went out via email and based on my book 30 Days of Gratitude, The Gratitude Program That Will Change Your Life. I did that for two years. In July of 2015 I was inspired to start a daily blogging project after reading The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin. My goal was to blog daily, connecting my blog posts to a daily gratitude tip and continue the theme of living daily gratitude. Writing every single day (including the weekends) was a huge challenge and towards the end of the year, I found that I chose to miss a few days. Finding something new and creative to write about daily is tough! Thankfully, I am exposed to a lot of different things such a books, webinars, seminars, and leadership situations that allows me to share what I have learned with others on a daily basis.
Now that I have been writing for over a year (the anniversary date of the project was July 13th), I am not sure what is next. I enjoy writing and sharing my thoughts on this blog. And thanks to your feedback, I know that many of you have benefited from the daily blog posts. However, I had some goals when I first started to write, and unfortunately, I have yet to achieve any of them. So now I feel like I am blogging without a purpose. Interestingly, over the past few months, my blogs have become longer and longer, so it’s taking me more time to write, however I’m not sure that it’s serving my community.
It looks like blogging is on my ‘should do’ list. And that’s a big a-ha moment for me. I want to keep serving my community however I’m not exactly sure what is the best way to do so. So for the next few weeks, you may not see me blog very much. When I feel that I have something important and relevant to share, I’ll share it. Who knows where I will choose to go next? Perhaps video blogging, perhaps I’ll take time off writing publicly and get to work on my next book. Thank you to all of you who read this blog on a regular basis! I feel like there is a small community of you who read almost every post and I am so grateful that you have made the time for me on a daily basis.
Finally, if anyone does have a connection with a publisher who would be interested in a book about gratitude, I’d love the introduction. I have enough material from the past year of blogging to be put together a book very quickly, however this time I’d love to work with a publisher rather than self-publishing.
P.s. Did you catch my blog yesterday about the amazing Canadian women at the Olympics? We’ve won two more bronze medals since!! Our women are owning the podium!
Vacation is OVER! One thing I didn’t mention is that we tend to eat much differently when we are away from home. Although I continued with MySmartShakes in the morning, I ate a lot of foods that I normally don’t (a lot of corn!!) and more sugar than I am used to.
