30 day whole body detoxThis year I started the program early, on Tuesday March 29th with was the live kick off event for the 30 Day Whole Body Detox, 5th edition. It wasn’t too difficult of a transition for me, since I only had to cut out the Rev3 (caffeine) and a small amount of sugar. I chose not to let myself have any dark chocolate dessert recipes until I had completed 21 days of no added sugar at all. I have found that works best for me. I have really enjoyed so many of the new recipes from this year’s guidebook, and as a wonderful treat, Made with Love, the vegan, gluten-free cookbook written by Kelly Childs & Erinn Weatherbie (co-owners of Kelly’s Bake Shoppe here in Burlington, and program contributors) was also released at the beginning of the month which has added even more recipe options to the program.

Gratitude Tip: The 30 Day Whole Body Detox is a wonderful way to show gratitude for yourself and for your body because you are spending an entire month focused on treating yourself and your cells with love and care. And the best part about it is that you feel really amazing, so you end up treating those around you even better too! (well except the first few days of caffeine withdrawl!).

30 Day Whole Body Detox 2016I’ve had some challenges along the way – my child was home sick for 4 days, then my husband got bronchitis and last week I severely sprained my ankle on Tuesday of last week and it’s still healing so cooking (and any exercise) has been a challenge. Imagine my complete and utter surprise when I stepped on the scale and I saw 132 lb. I was curious about my weight because when I put on my blue dress (see photo) on Saturday, it didn’t seem as form fitting as it was even in January. My lowest weight as an adult was in 2008 when I was training for Ironman Arizona was 134 lb, and I was super fit. Here we are, 6 years and one child later, and I’m at 132 lb!?! Totally blew me away. Then I recalled what Dr. Karen Wolfe has said at our MySmartFoods product launch yesterday, that when we feed our bodies with whole, real food and are well nourished at a cellular level with USANA supplements we release fat naturally. And that’s what the detox program is all about. You remove all of the things that don’t nourish your body, add so many things that DO and you release weight naturally.  Was I looking to lose weight? Not at all. Was a surprise to lose 3 lb? Yes. And I’m not sure that I will stay at this weight, which is fine cause I think I dropped a size and don’t really want to go shopping ;-). The point is that this program works, when you do it as directed. And after my 5th year of completing it, I’m not sure I’ll going off the program anytime soon.

We have a big group starting today, Monday April 25th and there will be groups starting every Monday til June. There are clients added to our online FB group every day and our number of detoxers keep growing and growing – especially in the French program! One coach has enrolled 17 clients herself!! She is a naturopath and in Quebec they are allowed to represent USANA products so she does have a bit of an advantage, however it’s still a very big group of clients! Congratulations Chantale!
